How is therapeutic yoga different from a normal yoga class?

A normal class teaches a sequence to a room. Therapeutic yoga is prescribed after an assessment for your specific concern — the postures you actually need, at a pace matched to your body, with corrections made for you. Nirmal Kaya offers both: one-to-one therapeutic sessions and small group classes capped at twelve.

The cap on group classes is deliberate. Beyond about twelve people an instructor cannot see, let alone correct, what everyone is doing — and an uncorrected posture done repeatedly is how people acquire the problem they came to fix.

Which one suits you

  • Recovering from pain or an injury, or working around a restriction — one-to-one therapeutic yoga
  • Generally well and wanting a consistent practice — small group class
  • Stress, blood pressure or sleep as the main concern — pranayama and breathwork, taught progressively

Start with an assessment.

Every plan here begins with understanding what is actually happening. Forty minutes, and you leave knowing where you stand.
